Well, it started rather ominously, our last day at the beach. The forecast was for rain and the sky looked cooperative (with the rain, that is). Here is the sky around 10:30 a.m.
And here it is around 6 p.m..
Absolutely one of the BEST BEACH DAYS EVER! And the waves were great riders too! Too bad for us that we had to go back to the beach house and clean up and pack otherwise I think we would have sat there until 8.
Who needs an umbrella when you have hats like these? I love my big floppy hat!
One of the best things about being at this beach is that there is a fleet of ice cream trucks that drive up and down each street all day long. Each one has its own tune. Apparently the township outlawed those traditional GoodHumor truck ringing bells so now they play catchy (i.e., would drive you insane after listening to it all day) tunes. After we cleaned up and packed and ordered pizza from The Oven - the only place in town where we hadn't had pizza from yet, we met Mike's brother Pete for a beer at the Crab's Claw. The Crab's Claw is like the only bar in town and it is walking distance from everyone's beach house so it is a very safe place to go. I think we were there at least 5 times. This night was Karaoke Night so the music was dreadful. The night before when we were there, there was a 2 person (we think they were men, but not really sure) disco band. One of them was like a cross between Elvis and James Brown. I was so disappointed not to have my camera that evening. Tonight the place was just packed.
Here is Mike with Pete.Pete's wife Leeann, his sister Maureen came up too. A bunch of old friends came in and shared some great stories of Clifford escapades in Lavallette.
Well, goodbye Lavallette!
