Yaupon

Sunday afternoon I played golf with Mike and David. Believe it or not, we were not the only crazies willing to brave the 100+ degrees on the golf course at 3 p.m. It was sort of backed up at times and we had to wait at some holes. And there was at least one group behind us. Last week, Mike and I played Live Oak in about 3 hours, today was about 3 1/2. Not bad really.

This is the 18th hole. Isn't it pretty? Don't let looks deceive you! It is a treacherous hole. There is a rolling downhill with at least 2 steps that lead to a pond and then a very steep uphill to the green. You have to hit a perfect 200 yard drive (no farther) right down the middle to even have a chance to make it over the pond and up the hill, otherwise there are overhanging trees that make it an even trickier shot. It is just an impossible hole. At least it is followed by the "19th hole!"

Here is David chipping from the tiny strip of grass between the green and that bunker. David is an excellent golfer. If you click on the photo you can see the ball in the air.

And here he is driving.

This is Mike. I am pretty sure that putt went in. He made most of his putts yesterday and even chipped-in on one hole! He was wearing a different set of glasses, so maybe that helped?

I know this one went straight down the fairway!

This is me, driving, I think on the 16th hole.
